Everything you need to know to visit Andorra (routes, villages and tips)
When you grow up in Andorra, you learn something that business guides never tell you:
Andorra is not visited. Andorra is felt.
You can feel the brilliant silence of Ordino in winter.
The blue steam of Chaldea illuminating the night.
The smell of old wood from a farmhouse.
The icy wind is coming down from Tristaina.
Laughter in Soldeu before the first coffee.
I am Jordi, a journalist and historian born in Andorra la Vella.
And this is not just another tourist guide.
It's the personal map I would use to show you my country.
When someone asks me what to do in Andorra, I don't think of generic tourist guides or "top 10 must-do" lists copied from the internet. I think of what truly makes this country special. I think of the sunsets at Roc del Quer, the quiet magic of the Tristaina lakes at dawn, the first time you taste a Coca de Recapte in an authentic bordia (traditional mountain hut), and how Andorra has managed to become a perfect refuge without losing its essence.

This is the guide I would give you if you came to visit me. The one an Andorran born here would give you from the heart.
This guide is not written by a tourist or an agency: it is written by someone who was born here and knows Andorra from the inside.
The Must-Sees: 12 Places That Define Andorra
1. Caldea & Inúu — The Thermal Heart of Andorra

Caldea is more than just a thermal spa. It's where thousands of people discover that Andorra is different. Thermal waters at 32°C, surrounded by mountains, with nighttime views that seem straight out of a science fiction film. Inúu is the luxury version: infinity pools, saunas with panoramic views, and spa experiences that disconnect you from the world in three hours.
Price: 40-55€ (full day). Local tip: Go in winter, when it's snowing. The experience of being in warm water while snow falls is indescribable.
2. Roc del Quer — The Photo Everyone Needs

Roc del Quer is the viewpoint that defines Andorra in a single image. It stands at 2.910 meters, offering 360-degree views that encompass the entire valley. On clear days, you can see Ordino, Casamanya, and the French mountains in the distance.
Access: Hiking trail from Ordino (2h), or Pal-Arinsal cable car (also worthwhile). Local tip: Go up at sunset. Bring a coat. And yes, the onion soup they sell up there is expensive but necessary.
3. Tristaina Lakes — The Best Kept Secret

Two glacial lakes at 2.380 meters, surrounded by peaks over 3.000 meters high. Tristaina is the perfect route: challenging but not extreme, with views that will change your perspective on what is "beautiful".
Path: 3h there, 2h back from Ordino (5-6h total). Local tip: The lakes freeze over in winter. Seeing them frozen is breathtaking. But the summer route is also stunning.
4. Estany de Juclar — Soledad with Views
A lesser-known mountain lake than Tristaina, but just as stunning. It sits at 2.640 meters and the route is perfect for escaping the crowds (because yes, tourism does exist in Andorra).
Path: From Arinsal, 4-5 hours. Intermediate level. Local tip: Wear sunglasses. The reflection of the water on the snow is blinding, and it's the most beautiful thing you'll ever see.
5. Meritxell — Sanctuary & History
The Basilica of Meritxell is the spiritual heart of Andorra. The Virgin of Meritxell is the patron saint, and even if you're not religious, the architecture of the new basilica (built after the 1972 fire) is impressive.
Local tip: The procession on September 8th (Festa Major) is an authentic local experience. If you can be here that day, you should.
6. Barri Antic (Andorra la Vella) — Where It All Began

The medieval streets of the Barri Antic are Andorra in miniature. Stone houses, small shops, the Casa de la Vall (the oldest parliament in Europe, by the way).
Local tip: Go up to the Barri through the back alleys. The views of the valley from the small streets are better than from the main avenues.
7. Grandvalira — World Class Skiing

The largest ski resort in the Pyrenees. 210km of slopes, 33 lifts, access to 1.940 hectares of skiable terrain. If you come in winter and there's snow, Grandvalira is a must.
Price: €55 (daily ski pass), ski rental €25-35. Local tip: The Grau Roig side has better scenery than the Soldeu side. And the sunsets while skiing here are like something out of a movie.
8. Solar Viewpoint (Pal) — A Unique Experience in Andorra
A "high-altitude tourism" experience where you climb 50 meters on a structure, see the valley in 3D, and instantly understand the geography of Andorra. It sounds touristy, but it's surprisingly well done.
Price: 15€. Local tip: It's more worthwhile than it seems. Take family or friends who are visiting for the first time.
9. Naturland — Adrenaline & Nature

Adventure park in the Pal forests. Zip lines, suspension bridges, activities for all ages. Very popular in summer.
Price: 30-45€ (depending on activities). Local tip: There are fewer people on weekdays. Much better experience.
10. Pal — The Beautiful Town Everyone Forgets
Pal is small, but it has real charm. Traditional architecture, quiet streets, the Mirador Solar viewpoint, Naturland, and it's only 30 minutes from the Vella. It's the perfect balance between tourism and authenticity.
Local tip: Spend a whole day here. Have breakfast at a local café, visit the Solar Lookout, have lunch at a small restaurant, and head up to Naturland at sunset.
11. Vallnord — The Other Side
Vallnord is more than skiing. It's Ordino, Arinsal, hiking trails, mountain biking, and a lake frozen in winter. It's the northern side of Andorra, less crowded than Soldeu-Grandvalira.
Local tip: If you want authentic Andorra without masses of tourists, Vallnord is your area.
12. Juberri Gardens — Pure Serenity

A small but perfectly designed botanical garden. Mountain plants, valley views, peaceful paths. Ideal if you're visiting with family or if you need a more relaxed day out.
Price: 8€. Local tip: It's not a "wow" attraction, but it's incredibly relaxing. Perfect for balancing out days of hiking.
Hiking Trails: The Ones Everyone Should Do

Route 1: Camí de les Pardines — Classic Andorran
Andorra's most iconic route. It connects Erts with Arinsal following a historic path over 800 years old.
Difficulty: Moderate-High | Duration: 7-8 hours | Distance: 13km
Why are you doing it? Because it's Andorra in its purest form. Forests, waterfalls, landscapes that range from dark green to snowy white depending on the season.
Local tip: Take this route in spring (May-June). The wildflowers, the meltwater, and the perfect weather make it unforgettable.
Route 2: Estanys de Ransol — For Photographers
Two glacial lakes surrounded by 3.000-meter peaks. The photograph practically takes itself.
Difficulty: Moderate | Duration: 5-6 hours | Distance: 10km
Local tip: Bring a tripod. The sunsets at Ransol are otherworldly. And go in summer, when you can get close to the edge without the risk of ice.
Route 3: Coll de la Botella — Local Secret
A historic mountain pass connecting Andorra to France. A less crowded, incredibly beautiful route.
Difficulty: Moderate-High | Duration: 6-7 hours | Distance: 12km
Local tip: Do it on a clear day. If there are low clouds, you'll miss 80% of the beauty. And bring a picnic lunch. Eating at the summit is a truly special experience.
Route 4: Pico de Casamanya — The Accessible Classic
At 2.740 meters high, with 360-degree views and relatively easy access, it's the "I can do this" route for people who aren't professional mountaineers.
Difficulty: Moderate | Duration: 4-5 hours | Distance: 8km
Local tip: Casamanya at sunset is breathtaking. You see the sun setting behind the French peaks, and the Andorra valley lighting up with the lights of La Vella. A picture-perfect scene.
Where to Eat: From Viral to Authentic
Viral Creperies — Yes, They're Good
Creperie at the Roundabout — This is the one you see on TikTok. French-style creperies, no fuss, but done right. The owner is lovely, the place is small and chaotic, and the experience is authentic (not a fake Instagram set).

Specialty: Sweet crepes with Nutella, pistachio, strawberries and homemade jam. Price: 8-12€ per crepe. Local tip: Arrive without waiting in line. Or accept the wait knowing it's part of the experience.
Carmen Maria Creperie — Another viral option that also deserves it. Less chaotic atmosphere than the Rotonda, but equally good.
Price: 9-13€ per crepe. Local tip: If you prefer tranquility to viral chaos, this is the place for you.
Authentic Bordais — Real Food

A bordia is a traditional Andorran stone house, now converted into a restaurant. It's where you eat what Andorrans actually eat.
Can Mañá — Authentic Bordia in Ordino. Home-style, unpretentious food with recipes passed down through generations.
Specialties: Coca de Recapte (vegetables with potato), mountain trout, meat on a stone. Price: 18-28€ per main course. Local tip: Make a reservation. Especially on weekends. And eat here on a winter evening, when it's snowing outside. The difference between dining and live an experience.
La Borda d'Ordino — Another authentic bar, similar to Can Mañá, with seasonal specials.
Local tip: Both are good. Go to whichever one you can book. It's not about competition; it's just that each one has its own charm.
Modern Restaurants (Without Losing Their Essence)

Black sheep — Conceptual, with a local “slow food” mentality. Ingredients from the region, modern technique, but respecting Andorran identity.
Price: 35-50€ (tasting menu). Local tip: This is the restaurant you'd take to a friend who doesn't understand why Andorra is special. After eating here, they'll understand.
Cafeterias & Brunch (Andorran Trend)
Coma Coffee Roasters Specialty coffee, roasted in Andorra, with a "third place" atmosphere. Perfect for breakfast, working, or relaxing.
Price: €4-8 per drink. Local tip: The espresso is good. Very good. And the atmosphere is the kind that makes you want to stay for hours.
My Corner — Modern cafe, high-quality brunch, cool atmosphere without being pretentious.
Specialties: Full breakfasts (€12-€16), smoothie bowls, açai bowls. Local tip: Perfect for a relaxing Sunday after hiking.
Shopping & Retail Experiences
Andorra is duty-free (low taxes), so shopping here makes sense. But we didn't come here just for that, did we?
Meritxell & Carlemany Avenue: The two main avenues of Andorra la Vella. International stores (Nike, Zara, Sephora, Bulgari). Prices 10-20% lower than mainland Europe.
Local tip: If you need tech or luxury, it's 20-25% cheaper here than in Barcelona or France. But that's not the reason you come here.

Do you have a business in Andorra? How to attract clients like these
The reality is simple: Andorra attracts tourists, investors, and people with high purchasing power. But most local businesses don't know how to capitalize on that.
Hotel, restaurant, shop, consultancy, agency… It doesn't matter the sector. The problem is the same:
"Lots of traffic, but no conversions. Lots of visits, but few actual customers. I don't know if my ads are working or if it's just a coincidence."
This is where companies like Copilots Andorra come into play.

We're not just another "marketing agency." We're a team that understands Andorra (because we live here), and we know exactly how to:
- Map your real customers: Who is looking for you, where do they come from, how much money do they spend?
- Build 24/7 collection systems: Automated sales funnels that work even while you sleep.
- Scale your business 100% without doubling costs: The secret isn't spending more on advertising. It's spending it better.
Real cases in Andorra:
- 5-star Hotel: +37% bookings, -38% cost per booking.
- Restaurant: +52% recurring revenue, +140% qualified leads.
- B2B Consulting: +22% sales closing, CEO saves 14h/week.
How does it begin?
With a Copilots Strategic Management Session (no commitment).
We analyze your business using real telemetry (data, not intuition). We show you exactly where you're losing money. And we give you a 90-day plan to scale.
